The Zander Hollander Complete Handbook of the 1988-89 Knicks – 4 of 5

Analysis of Zander’s Analysis

Sidney Green coulda shoulda been a star; he was a superstar at UNLV. But in the NBA he never seemed to have the confidence to excel; he was a good off-the-bench power forward. Zander pegged it: “One of the leagues most inconsistent players.”

Rick Carlisle? Who remembers he was ever a Knick — even if you watched him play for the Knicks in 1988, which I did. But the fact that he was a “self-taught pianist who finds hotel piano immediately after check in” — that is pure Zander Hollander; information you wouldn’t find elsewhere and info that would lodge in your memory. Years later I’d tell my daughter that once she became good at piano, she could sit down at any hotel piano and play and how cool would that be? An incentive to have her learn piano.
