Karl-Anthony Towns went Batman on Brooklyn, shooting lights out from outside and inside and all over to score 37 pts on 14-20 shooting (3-4 from 3) with 12 rebounds and great defense too (2 blocks and a steal) — carrying the Knicks to an easy win over the Nets, 113-100, on a Monday night in Brooklyn.
Jalen Brunson played Robin — or maybe even Alfred — very quiet and then you looked up and he had 27 pts on 10-19 shooting (4-9 from 3).
The Knicks dominated the 2nd half, taking a 17-pt lead near the end of the 3rd quarter. The Nets stayed within range on the 3-pt shooting of Noah Clowney, who scored 31 pts on 9-17 shooting; 7-13 from 3 — but NY pulled out to a 19-pt lead midway through the 4th and that was ballgame.
KAT dominated Nets center Nic Claxton, who only had 8 pts on 2-8 shooting with 4 rebounds in 26 minutes. Mitchell Robinson was out sick with an illness, but Josh Hart added 12 rebounds. Mikal Bridges scored 16 pts — 14 of them in the 2nd half, and Jordan Clarkson added 12 pts off the bench.
“Anytime we can play a game like that — especially giving up 28 paint points, that’s a pretty good defensive game,” said Mike Brown afterwards. “I thought our contests were good too along the perimeter. Did a great job sharing the basketball and taking care of the ball — 28 assists on 45 or so buckets, and then 8 turnovers for the game. Both Josh and KAT were monsters on the glass; they each had 12 boards. Every rebound was big for us. Josh was defensive player of the game. Good win for us on the road, and a lot of contributions up and down the lineup.”
NY has now won 12 in a row over Brooklyn, and improves to 10-6 on the season. Brooklyn falls to 3-14.
1. KAT Dominates the Scoring from Opening Bell
Karl-Anthony Towns was coming off 3 poor shooting games in a row, wherein he went 4-19 from 3 overall in scoring 22, 18, and 24 pts respectively — causing clamor on Knicks Twitter, where fans were discussing how inconsistent he was, and how poorly he was playing under new coach Mike Brown, and discussing a rumor of him being traded for Anthony Davis.
So KAT came out and told everyone to go fuck themselves — his play doing the talking. He came out aggressively — going to the rack early against Nic Claxton. KAT started the game with a bucket inside.

KAT was a little over-energized at first. Next time down court he grabbed two offensive rebounds — missing both shots. Claxton then blocked a KAT drive, and KAT missed another drive a few plays later, with Claxton defending.
But KAT settled down his over-aggressiveness, and let the play come to him — nailing an 18 footer.
Miles McBride made a pretty Michael-Jackson-stutter-step floater to give NY a 24-23 lead.

Unfortunately Noah Clowney hit a 3 and Brooklyn led 26-24 after 1.
2. Knicks Pull Out to 12-Pt Lead in 2nd; Nets Come Back
A relaxed KAT really poured it on in the 2nd quarter with short jumpers inside and drives — scoring 13 points in the period.

Tyler Kolek played his best brand of basketball of the season at the start of the 2nd quarter, and then Jalen Brunson came back in to add to the KAT attack. A Brunson floater with 4:56 left in the half gave NY a 12-pt lead at 45-33.

The Nets wouldn’t go away — Egor Demin and Michael Porter Jr. hit back-to-back 3’s and the Nets were right back in it.
A KAT floater with 1:22 left gave NY a 49-43 lead, and NY took a 51-48 lead into the lockerroom.
3. Big Bodega KAT & Knicks Pull Out to 17-Pt Lead in 3rd
Mikal Bridges only had 2 pts at the half, but he came out like a wrecking crew to start the 3rd, and added to the KAT attack.
Bridges dunked off a KAT assist; KAT hit a floater; and Bridges nailed a 3 and NY had a 58-51 lead.
Brunson and McBride added to the attack, and then KAT hit a 3 gave NY a 72-58 lead.
McBride and Guerschon Yabusele hit consecutive 3’s late in the quarter, followed by a Bridges deuce and NY had a 17-pt lead at 89-72 with 5 seconds left.
A Drake Powell 3 at the buzzer pulled the Nets to 14 down entering the 4th.
4. Knicks Coast in 4th; Clowney Keeps Nets from Being Blown Out
Jordan Clarkson came off the bench to give the Knicks a scoring punch early in the 4th, and along with KAT kept the Knicks up by double digits as the Nets furiously tried to get back in the game on the 3-pt shooting of Clowney.
KAT hit a drive-and-1 and then a 3 to put NY up 17 at 102-85.

Josh Hart missed a full-court drive but Mikal Bridges was there for the offensive rebound and tip in, then Brunson stole the ball and scored to give NY a 19-pt lead with 6:37 left and that was pretty much ballgame. Nets timeout.
In the last 6 minutes Noah Clowney hit a couple of more 3’s, but they were countered by a Brunson deuce and a 3, and a Clarkson bucket.
NY was up by 18 at 113-95 with 2:30 left when both teams emptied their benches.
